About Sophia Egan-Reid

Sophia Egan-Reid

Sophia founded Mary Egan Publishing following a business plan written by her father, Gerard Reid, while he was dying. His idea was simple: work with good people, make beautiful books, and do it as a family.

Sophia grew up around publishing, with her parents running a home office and staff coming and going. She began her working life in an administrative role at Egan-Reid Limited, which later developed into an Office Manager role. When the company was sold to Pindar NZ, she went on to run the self-publishing department, before leaving to establish Mary Egan Publishing.

She oversees projects from initial scoping and pricing through to production, print and delivery, and is usually the main point of contact for authors. She won Young Publisher of the Year at the 2018 Booksellers Industry Awards.

Sophia lives in Northland with her husband James, and dogs Gus and Peaches
