ARGH! I’M THE RHYMING PIRATE!
Have a LOOK inside this BOOK
then read it at your LEISURE,
because hidden in the pages
you’ll find loads of Kiwi TREASURE!

Pirates mixed with classic Kiwiana. What’s not to love. Rhetorical.

Join the rhyming pirate and his cheeky parrot companion on a colourful voyage, laden with rollicking rhymes, as they try to find a word which rhymes with carrot. Along the way, there are 20 classic Kiwi treasures to discover – from chocolate fish, hokey pokey ice cream and jet planes to jandals, Pohutakawa and Tūī.

Artist and debut author Glenn Jones has always enjoyed picture books, particularly the images. As a father, he gets to read lots of books to his three kids and decided it was time to create one of his own. The result is The Rhyming Pirate – a fun, nostalgic take on a classic pirate story with a distinctively Aotearoa flavour.

Glenn and his wife Julia created Glenn Jones Art seven years so they could run a business from home while spending time with their young family. Glenn’s work has become known for its New Zealand nostalgia and Kiwiana influences. Glenn Jones Art is a family business – Glenn creates the artwork, Julia takes care of the business, and their kids help provide lots of inspiration.
